BIOGRAPHY

Dr. G.T.W.Sriyani is a senior lecturer attached to the Department of Management and Entrepreneurship of the University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka. She graduated from the University of Ruhuna with a BCom special (Hons) Degree in 1990. She received the MBA degree from the University of Colombo in 1997. She obtained her PhD degree in Entrepreneurship from University of Ruhuna and completed the PhD summer course in International Management at the Agder University College in Norway in 2009. Her research interest is on entrepreneurship development, strategic management, and tourism. She works on several foreign funded projects as well as a consultant and adviser for SME development, policy development, and strategic plan development.

Lesson Writer for the academic year 2022 in Bachelor of Management Studies Programme, Innovation & Entrepreneurship (OSU3308) Course of the Open University of Sri Lanka. This is a distance learning course and collection of chapters/lessons is published as a study manual for the undergraduates in this course module. I was assigned to write 6 chapters and to date I completed the writing of the Chapter 1: Origin and Concepts of Entrepreneurship; Chapter 2: Entrepreneurial Process; Chapter 3: Opportunity Assessment; and Chapter 4: Feasibility Study.

Worked for Foreign Granted Projects

 Member of a 5 member team in writing the proposal for the work package 1-7 under the Joint Project of EU, namely, Techno-Economic-Societal Sustainable Development Training in Sri Lanka (TESS) -2021/2023. Work package 1-7 is mainly focused on developing Cross-sector collaboration among the Higher Educational institutes, municipals, entrepreneurs, NGOs, and Industrial sector by focusing on developing a circular economy and take actions for properly manage the solid waste. Under this TESS project, participated in interim Consortium meeting held at the Technology University of Denmark in September 2022, and the final Consortium meeting held at the University of South-Eastern Norway in September 2023.
Wrote a proposal for Special Needs Project under World Bank Institutional Block Grant (IBG - II) of LKR 5 million. This was a 3 year project (2006-2008) and the aim of the project was to develop a learning environment and the required infrastructure for differently-abed students and staff of the University of Ruhuna for uplifting their capacity and mental health. 
Coordinator of the sub activity of “Marketing and Networking for Women” under the CIDA-Tsunami Restore Project of University of Ruhuna for the period of 2005/09 to rehabilitate and uplift the livelihoods. 

Awards and Scholarships

NOMA programme of the Agder University College in Norway awarded a placement to participate for a seminar series of its PhD programme in 2009 from 01 st June to 30 th July. 
Research grant awarded in 2009 to obtain Doctoral qualification locally by the University Grants commission in Sri Lanka. 
Staff and Educational Development Association (SEDA) in England awarded the ‘Accreditation as a Teacher in Higher Education’ in collaboration with Staff and Educational Development Association of University of Colombo in September 2001.
