“Speaksphere ”,English Camp: Empowering HRM Undergraduates
The English Club of the Department of Human Resource Management, University of Ruhuna, hosted Speaksphere: The English Camp on 04 th June from 1:30 PM to 5:30 PM at the University Gymnasium, exclusively for HRM undergraduates.
The main goal of Speaksphere was to create a supportive space that builds both English language skills and essential soft skills. Students actively participated in a range of creative, skill-building activities, including team discussions, group challenges, storytelling, and public speaking. Fun team-building games and friendly competitions also encouraged collaboration, problem-solving, and stronger peer connections.
These activities provided a valuable platform for students to express themselves confidently, develop leadership qualities, and enhance their communication skills in a practical setting. Speaking at the event, Dr. Hemamali Ganewatta, Senior Treasurer of the English Club, highlighted that “Speaksphere” provided valuable opportunities to empower students, not only to enhance their English proficiency but also to build the confidence and soft skills essential for future career success. Dr. Jayarani Ramawickrama, Head of the Department of Human Resource Management, together with several staff members, graced the occasion and joined in awarding certificates and gifts to the winners.
