The Department of Accountancy recently organised an educational field visit for third-year, first-semester students, offering them valuable exposure to real-world business operations and management practices. As part of the semester’s academic enrichment activities, students toured two prominent Sri Lankan enterprises — Wijaya Products and Pintanna Plantations.

The visit commenced at Pintanna Plantations, where students gained insights into plantation management, crop cultivation, and sustainable practices. Discussions highlighted the vital role of financial management in cost tracking, budgeting, and revenue generation within the agri-business sector.

At Wijaya Products, students explored modern production processes, quality control systems, and innovative packaging solutions. They also learned how effective accounting and cost control contribute to maintaining product quality and brand reputation.

This immersive experience not only deepened students’ understanding of industry operations but also reinforced the practical relevance of their accounting knowledge across diverse sectors. The Department of Accountancy extends its gratitude to Wijaya Products and Pintanna Plantations for their warm hospitality and willingness to share their expertise. This initiative reflects the department’s commitment to combining academic learning with industry exposure, ensuring students are well-prepared for their future careers.
